Dr. Peter Cornish

Dr. Peter Cornish, a confidential on-site counselor, is available to provide confidential counseling services for three hours each week.  Dr. Cornish is the Director of Counseling and Wellness at the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Services. He completed his BA at Rutgers University and his PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University at Albany. His education and theoretical orientation has primarily focused on cognitive behavioral therapy, although other disciplines are utilized as needed depending on the client and comfort in practice. Dr. Cornish served as the Program Director for an older adolescent/young adult unit at Four Winds Hospital in Saratoga Springs New York for 15 years, during which time he supervised several clinicians and conducted individual, group, and family therapy.  Dr. Cornish’s areas of interest include mood and anxiety disorders, self-injury, substance use, and other conditions typically impacting young adults.

Kelly Keohan

Ms. Keohan is a Licensed Mental Health Clinician with 30 yrs experience in the mental health and substance abuse field. Ms. Keohan earned degrees in Social Work and Psychology, with a specialization in addictions.Ms. Keohan has held clinical and administrative positions at an inpatient psychiatric facility, OMH forensic based settings and an Intensive Outpatient Program. Ms. Keohan has extensive experience providing individual, group and family psychotherapy as well as being specifically trained in DBT ( Dialectical Behavior Training). Ms. Keohan has served as a DBT consultant for other clinicians as well as being responsible for implementing new DBT programs in inpatient and forensic settings.

Ms. Keohan’s specialty areas include eating disorders, anxiety ,family therapy, young adult interventions and treatment resistant populations.

Ms. Keohan provides counseling services to the community within her private practice and joined Albany Law School in 2021 to provide counseling services to the students of Albany Law School.

Shaquana Pearson

A native of New York City, Pearson holds a Master’s degree in social work from Long Island University. She has over 15 years of clinical experience across a variety of settings. Her experience includes the facilitation of skills-based learning and psy- choeducation to use tools like goal setting, cognitive restructuring, guided discovery, mindfulness, and stress reduction techniques to manage mental health challenges. She uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Narrative Ap- proach, and Task Centered Practice (TCP) daily with clients to aid in the development of coping tools as a collaborative venture in which skills and knowledge work together to approve solutions and overall quality of life. Through the lens of social work, she supports individuals in the challenging moments of life while identifying the way societal and family structures impact a person’s experience. Pearson’s experience has taught her that clients know themselves better than anyone. Pearson is committed to improving her community and helping people achieve their full potential.
